Keynote: New Directions in Personalization – from Personalised Conversational AI to new approaches to training Personalised Learning Systems
Prof. Vincent Wade, ADAPT SFI Research Centre, Dept of Computer Science and Statistics, Trinity College Dublin, the University of Dublin, Ireland

Abstract: Personalization and Adaptive technology have been quite successful in many application areas such as personalized customer care, personalized online educational content and recommenders. This keynote presentation will explore how personalization and user modeling technology has the potential to enhance other areas such as dialogue systems (agents), nudging (behavioral) systems and multidimensional learner categorization. The keynote will explore recent (learner) knowledge tracing and simulation approaches which may mitigate the need for large dataset for training neural based personalization systems.

Short Bio: Vincent Wade is Director of the ADAPT Centre for Digital Media Technology and holds the Professorial Chair of Computer Science (Est. 1990) in School of Computer Science and Statistics, Trinity College Dublin as well as a personal Chair in Artificial Intelligence. His research focuses on intelligent systems, AI and Personalisation in application areas such as (online) Education, Games and Precision Medicine. He was awarded Fellowship of Trinity College for his contribution to research and has published over three hundred and fifty scientific papers in peer reviewed international journals and conferences.
